Suspect confesses to raping a 70-year-old woman under the influence of alcohol


A 25-year-old man, identified as Wasiu Bankole has been captured by the Ogun state police order for assaulting a 70-year-elderly person at her loft in Abule Lemode zone of Ijoko at about 8pm on June 2. 

Ogun state police representative, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was captured following a protest documented by the casualty at Agbado police division. 

The woman said Bankole broke into her room, held her down and mightily had sex with of her against her assent. The suspect fled in the wake of being beaten with a stick by the lady's neighbors who heard her shouting. Bankole left behind his garments, shoes and torchlight inside the lady's room. 

Oyeyemi revealed that the suspect conceded submitting the said offense however said it was affected by alcohol. 

The police representative said; 

"Upon the report, the DPO Agbado division ,SP Kuranga Yero ,dispatched his criminologists to search for the speculate and carry him to equity. 

"The criminologists prevailing with regards to getting him captured 24 hours after and carried him to the station. 

"On cross examination, he admitted carrying out the wrongdoing however professed to have acted affected by liquor. The casualty has been taken to the emergency clinic for clinical consideration. 

"In the interim, the official of police CP Kenneth Ebrimson has requested the prompt exchange of the suspect to the counter human dealing and kid work unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Abeokuta for additional examination and dilligent indictment".
